In all the best of the year lists going on during the New Years Holiday I found an article that related to recent TPMs that you all should check out. Gotta Love Yahoo News.

Famous Feuds

After my last TPM, my thought was provoked to think of some of the most famous feuds of all time. When I think of the largest feuds of all time the Shaquille O'Neal vs. Kobe Bryant feud of the early 2000s comes to mind. I am a big NBA fan and love the T'Wolves (K-Love for MVP) and this feud was one of the largest in the league's history The feud was kept on the hush for a while while the Lakers were winning their three-peat. But soon it rose up and O'Neal was traded to the Miami Heat. JUST IN, A NEW TPM, I AM GAYYYY!!!!!

TPM #2 (Feuds)

Sorry it's been so long between posts, Mid-Quarter exams are rough. But they did provide me with a new TPM idea. A student of mine recently came up to me after a mid term exam and expressed that there was a feud going on about my class. I was confused and asked him who was involved in the feud. He told me that it was a feud in his head about whether or not he should stay in my class. At first I laughed (feuds have to be between two or more people right?) but then I realized I may be being naive and that the word feud may have a broader definition than I previously thought. Whatever the definition of feud, this incident inspired me to think about the great feuds of all time which will be the topic of my upcoming posts.

TPMs (Finally)

So first off I should apologize about not getting to the TPMs sooner. The wi-fi at the Hermite Islands is shaky at best. However the trip was wonderful and I believe that I can now be 120% the teacher that I formerly was. The weather was also fantastic at the Cape and it snowed constantly. I adore snow and when I heard that it was snowing back in River Forrest, I could barely contain my excitment (If singing  ocapella Winter Wonderland on a plane counts as containing my exctiement at all). Two places on opposite ends of the globe and BOTH with snow, I mean how lucky could I be. That is until I saw my house. I couldn't get in and now I am temporarily living in my classroom (At least it's the weekend) I was so caught up in how much I adore snow that I forgot that it had downsides as well. Have you ever been so caught up in something that you realize it isn't always good and has bad qualities as well, I'd love to hear!

Good times at Cape Horn

Landed at the Hermite Islands a few days ago. Sorry I haven't posted in a while (17 hour long flight can do that to you. Phew. Anyways the Cape is amazing and I have made sure to take pictures (these are some of my favorites). In case anyone is wondering Cape Horn and the Hermite Islands are on the southern tip of argentina. Us teachers are having a great time and brushing up on our spanish. I will start TPMs next time.

Adios

Thought Provoking Moment

One aspect that I will touch on here on my blog that I don't always have enough time for in class is what I like to call Thought Provoking Moments (or TPMs for short). In these TPMs I will find something in the outside world, my encyclopedia collection, or once I am oriented enough the world wide web to discuss. These TPMs are not restricted to any particular discipline of study and I encourage my followers to share their own thoughts and engage in discussion. Unfortunately, I cannot start these TPMs now as my flight leaves for the Herm Islands in minutes. But I promise that TPMs as well as full updates of my sabbatical are on the way once I get settled in at the cape.

River Forest needs substitutes!!!!!!!
Substitutes Needed!
We need more substitutes!  If you are interested in being a substitute teacher at any grade level in our schools, please contact the superintendent's office at (219)962-2909 for more information or apply online.  Use our online application found under the Employment Opportunities tab to apply.

We also need substitute bus drivers, cafeteria workers,  and custodians.  Please contact the superintendent's office (219)962-2909.  We are always taking applications for these positions.  Use our online application found under the Employment Opportunities tab to apply.

Lots of faculty members (Including THIS GUY!!) are going on sabbatical to the Hermite Islands (Right next to CAPE HORN!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I can't wait. Us teachers have already decided that this is the theme song for the trip <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/N6O2ncUKvlg?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/N6O2ncUKvlg?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>  (Saw Nelly last year in Cinci, he did a masterful job.) Unfortunatly my favorite sub Ms.Layzell is already teaching this week so we need subs ASAP. Contact me you don't even really need experience. I will have my laptop in the Herm Islands so I will send updates I promise!!!!!!!!!!

A Flood of Information

Hello Folks, my name is Thaddeus Tobert and I am a teacher at River Forest High. My students this year have encouraged me to use this World Wide Web so I have taken their advice. I will be updating this blog regularly about class activities as well as other fun and interesting spectacles I observe in my travels through life and the Internet. Although technology has many downsides, it is so nice that I can now communicate with my students after the bell rings. I can't wait to get started!

Thanks to all who follow me!
